A View From Above

I had intended to write this at the very start of 2021 but thankfully have just sneaked into posting in January.

We have all heard why last year was so different and even extraordinary. Negativity and conflicting opinions through the mainstream media have become normal (granted that last year’s events were fairly dire). But I wanted to focus on how it has helped change things for the better.

Personally, I am now a regular runner. It is amazing how the “lack of anything else to do” can influence us. I, like most parents, have spent an incredible amount of time with my children and even become their teacher at times and as a result have a reinforced respect for teachers. I haven’t sat in one traffic jam in nearly a year, flown or been late for a single meeting!

We, as I have mentioned before, quit our offices (Oxford and Madrid) in May and we are about to embark on becoming a “future fit” organisation, which will affect how we operate from an environmental and ethical standpoint. 2020 has also afforded the time to review our business with a view to improving operations, communication, staff engagement and wellbeing.

But best of all, in order to evolve our content and motion offering, I entered the world of drone operation. After several months of evening revision (I worked out it had been over 30 years since my last load of revision), I passed my theory exam and then the week before Christmas passed my practical flight exam.

A View From Above

So, TAP is now approved by the CAA to operate commercially. That view from above can offer a completely different perspective on the world and we have also now signed up another member of the team to take the qualification by Spring.

Last year afforded time and another perspective. It enabled us to really push forward with who and what we are, as well as improve our efficiency and services to clients. Our business continued to grow last year and I feel very fortunate we are in this place. Many agencies through no fault of their own have been hit very hard and my heart goes out to them. But we are all confident that 2021 will be the year things got fixed and we will all be stronger for it.
